Purpose Through Repurpose

In 2015, we purchased a ten-acre parcel that was previously an auto body shop and junkyard. One definition of Sustainability is the ability to maintain or “sustain” systems over the long term without depleting resources or causing environmental damage. This site, our “Sustainable Warehouse” site, is part of our ongoing work to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability. Having mitigated the environmental damages caused by the junkyard, we now store, re-purpose, and utilize materials saved through our house deconstruction process, and mill lumber from donated logs. 

We continue our work toward offering employment opportunities to our residents and local community members, and providing training on all stages of deconstruction, construction, cabinetry, and woodworking. This includes re-purposing and upcycling old-growth lumber into new products.
