Our Story
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit community development corporation founded in 1976 with the purpose of supporting housing and community needs in rural South Carolina.
Our focus is on providing affordable rental and homeownership opportunities; educating and empowering residents through our housing counseling program; creating economic and job opportunities through our Sustainable Warehouse and financial management programs; and increasing the stock of affordable housing through rehabilitation and renovation of existing housing stock.
In an effort to reflect our expanded mission, we changed our name in 2016 from Southeastern Housing Foundation to Southeastern Housing and Community Development.
Our Mission
To build sustainable communities by stimulating economic development, creating affordable housing opportunities, and empowering individuals and families towards self-sufficiency.
