Home Repair Program
These programs provide financial relief for essential repairs, improve safety and comfort, and help homeowners remain in their homes-strengthening both families and the wider community.
Who Can Apply?
- Homeowners residing in Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Berkeley, Calhoun, Hampton, Jasper, and Orangeburg counties
- Mobile homes: Must be less than 25 years old (from year built)
- Single-family homes also qualify
- Must have lived in the home for at least 3 years
- Must meet income guidelines (80% and below of county area median income)
Eligible Repairs May Include:
- Sewer / Septic systems
- Water wells
- Roof replacements (non-asbestos shingled roofs only)
- Fascia and Soffits
- Gutters
- Exterior façade, sidings (non-asbestos siding only)
- Windows
- Exterior Doors/Storm Doors
- Accessibility Ramps
- Etc.
Program Benefits
- Critical Home Repair Program – covers eligible repairs up to $30,000
- Home Repair Program – covers extensive repairs up to $75,000
- Grant or Forgivable Loan Options:
- Repairs under $15,000 → Grant
- Repairs over $15,000 → Forgivable Loan (must remain your primary residence for 20 years)
