Financial Resource Center

In partnership with SC Thrive, we provide access to resources needed by families and individuals to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency by simplifying complex processes and removing barriers to benefit access. We provide application assistance for the following benefit resources:

• Healthy Connections Medicaid  Free or low-cost healthcare coverage
• Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)  Free to low-cost healthcare coverage to children up to age 19
• Medically Indigent Assistance Program (MIAP)  Assists low-income residents with inpatient hospitalization services
• Welvista  Provides prescription medication to qualifying individuals without healthcare coverage
• Medicare Rx Extra Help -aka- Low Income Subsidies Program (LIS)  Helps cover Medicare Part D prescription drug costs
• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)  Federal program that helps families supplement the cost of food
• South Carolina State Taxes  No cost option to file South Carolina income taxes
• Federal Taxes  No cost option to file Federal income taxes
• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  Helps cover tuition and fees for college and other post-secondary programs
• Family Independence (FI) -aka- (TANF)  Provides monetary assistance for limited periods of time
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)  Provides monthly payments to people who have limited income, are 65 or older, and/or have a condition that keeps them from working for longer than a year
• Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)  Pays benefits to people who cannot work due toa medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death
• Voter Registration  Federal and State Registrations
• Refugee Assistance  Provides monetary assistance to refugees who do not meet certain immigration requirements for limited periods of time
• South Carolina Property Tax Exemption  Allows individuals to exclude a certain amount from the value of their permanent residences for purposes of appraisal for property taxes or completely exempt the home from taxes
